The PIPE Curriculum and Model

The PIPE curriculum and instructional model is research based, interactive and experiential.

PIPE allows the parenting educator to create an educational partnership where:

· The parent is the most consistent and pervasive force shaping the life of the child.

· The baby becomes a teacher.

· The parenting educator is the facilitator and coach.

The PIPE instructional model uses supervised parent-child activities to focus the parent on the child's needs and emotional communications. When parents gain skill at reading their baby or toddler's cues the job of parenting becomes easier.

The PIPE curriculum and instructional model is being used in:

· Home Visitation Models

· School Based Teen Parent Programs

· Mentor and Volunteer Programs

· Social Service Programs

· Medical Centers and Clinics

· Drug and Alcohol Abuse Programs

The PIPE Curriculum consists of an Educator's Guide, Parent Handouts and Activity Cards. The Parent Handouts and the Activity Cards can be photo copied for distribution to parents. The Parent Handouts are available in English and Spanish. The Activity Cards include rhymes and songs in both English and Spanish.
